A Hidden River Yields TONS of Rare Fossils! An Epic Florida Canoe Voyage
This was way, WAY overdue! An expedition to find some of my favorite types of fossils, Pleistocene age vertebrates. This time period is often called the "ice age" and had a ton of fantastic megafauna as well as other interesting smaller animals. Florida was an incredible, wild place during the time all these fossils were deposited, and we always enjoy getting out to unlock the mysteries of what can be found in the gravel.

🌺🌿 We Discovered AMAZING Wild Orchids and Carnivorous Plants in Florida! 🔍🦟
Переглядів 10 тис.Місяць тому
This was a very fun little roadside adventure! We've been dying to get out and try hunting for wild orchids ever since we accidentally stumbled up on one while fossil hunting. We set out to a pine forest upland environment here in Florida that we thought had promise and it paid off with not only multiple types of orchids, but also fantastic carnivorous plants. This is just the beginning of our ...

Food doesn't come from the grocery store, my friends. It comes from the land, and this expedition is all about exploring, foraging and catching food sustainably, teaching about the different edible plants of this area, and a few things we're doing to begin producing more of our own food on our land. We are both very interested in progressively gaining more independence from the standard industr...
We Found a HELL PIG! Our RAREST Fossil Find Ever! | Florida Entelodont (Daeodon/Dinohyus)
Переглядів 82 тис.2 місяці тому
This was one of our rarest finds of all time! An incredibly rare Arikareean HELL PIG (entelodont) from the Late Oligocene/Early Miocene of Florida, along with a bunch of rhino material. Terrestrial fossils from this time period are incredibly rare from Florida, with only a handful of sites ever found. This site has the potential to help teach all of us more about the prehistoric life who called...
🌪️ Mysterious Mist Tornadoes & Scuba Diving at NIGHT in FL for Fossils! 🐊🤿

What an UNREAL expedition on the river at night here in Florida! I absolutely love going out at night and seeing things that people rarely ever see. This adventure had all kinds of things that are almost never seen in the daylight. Humans tend to have an aversion to the night/dark under the misconception that it is far more dangerous and scary. While there was a time when that was the case in o...

An AMAZING Agate Adventure: Finding & Cutting Open INCREDIBLE Florida Alligator Agate Geodes!
Переглядів 31 тис.9 місяців тому
Some days do NOT go according to plan! This was one of those hunts where we had mother nature against us, but had a fantastic time anyways. We got off to the river fairly late in the day and, in typical Florida summer fashion, we were hit multiple times by random storms that were not at all in the forecast. We made the best of it, found a few geodes and then retired back to my place to cut a fe...

NEW DISCOVERY! Finding and CUTTING Incredible Alligator Agates from a Florida Swamp on a Rock Saw!
Переглядів 114 тис.Рік тому
What an unexpected discovery! We went to explore a brand new location and found a source of legitimate Florida agate! These appear to be forming inside hollow cavities within limestone and are quite different from the agatized coral that is so famous from Florida! There are even tiny invertebrate fossils still visible under the botryoidal mineral formations; a first for us! I can't wait to get ...

This hunt turned out way more exciting, eventful and successful than any of us imagined it would be! What a fun day of adventuring in the middle of nowhere here in Florida! We set out to do a bit of exploration and fossil hunting, but grabbed the fishing poles on the way out the door which turned out to be an excellent decision! Tons of beautiful sunfish (redbreast sunfish, bluegill, etc) for dinner(s) and fertilizing our garden! After the fishing, we found a wonderful little patch of deliciou...
These Alabama River Banks Are LOADED With Dinosaur Age Fossils and Other Treasures!

This was my first time hunting in the great state of Alabama for fossils and minerals! We hunted for over 15 hours this day, well into the night for at least 3 totally different kind of fossils: marine shark teeth from the Cretaceous, petrified wood inside pyrite nodules and calamites (giant horsetail-like plants) from the Carboniferous period! It was a great start for Alabama and I suspect we ...

My family could never afford the euthanasia shots for all our dogs, so we had to have my dad "take 'em out back." We would have a funeral for them and bury them in our goat pasture so their decomposing bodies would fertilize the grass, goats ate the grass, and we ate the goats and drank their milk. That way, they could live through us. Looking back, that was really weird and kinda creepy.. When we had an animal get hit by a car, we would bury them on the side of the road with a little cross, so they could roam, as they wanted during their final hours.

I am so glad I found this channel. I live in the UK and was only able to go fossil hunting on my hols. By coach and train as I do not drive. My arthritis is too bad now and I desperately miss it. I love your enthusiasm and joy. My oldest fossils are Permian. I just had to order a Paleo Pack. I know to ship to UK is expensive, just had to experience the hunt in a small way.

I always fish with the white side up. To me it's easier to see. I prefer to long skinny bombers over the ball bobbers fished with no weights. It gives a natural drop to the bait.

@paleocris quick question - why do you cut the roads backwards on the tile saw? If you cut it from the front it would spray the water away from you and if it caught the rock it wouldn’t fly at you but away from you. 🤷‍♀️
